Yabous Productions (Yabous) is a Palestinian nonprofit organization based in Jerusalem and is concerned with cultural and artistic production in all of its specializations. Yabous was founded in 1995 through an initiative by a group of Jerusalemites interested in reviving and developing the cultural life in the city and restoring its spirit.
-As a first step to restoring life to the historical city, which was once named Yabous, the Yabous organization was founded for working in the area of cultural action, thus pumping a spirit of life into the city, granting radiance to its identity, and affirming its authenticity.
Through its activities, Yabous is concerned with cultural, developmental, and creative sectors such as music, cinema, dance, theatre, and the development of individual skills to create staffs for cultural work management.
The activities of Yabous are particularly focused in Jerusalem. In the event that opportunities and possibilities for communication and coordination with other cultural and artistic centers whose activities and programs intersect with those of Yabous, activities could be held in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and the territories occupied in 1948.
Given the onslaught that the city of Jerusalem undergoes, the work of Yabous revolves around and in the city of Jerusalem. The organization is keen on cooperating and coordinating with the educational, social and cultural organizations and centers in the city in order to meet the huge social responsibility placed upon everybody’s shoulders towards Jerusalem and its citizens.
Yabous is Jerusalem’s first name and it comes from one of the Canaanite tribes that built the first city on the current site of Jerusalem 5000 years ago.
