Born: 1940 in Baghdad, Iraq.
Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Baghdad.
Co-founded the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) in 1969.
Elected a member of the DFLP Political Bureau in 1969 and held various leadership roles in Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.
Returned to the homeland in 1996 and took over leadership of the DFLP within the Palestinian territories.
Member of the Central Council of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
He was elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council at the head of the "Alternative" list in the 2006 elections.
Elected Chair of the Social Affairs Committee of the Legislative Council in May 2006.
