Miguel Ángel Moratinos

Born on June 8, 1951 in the Spanish capital, Madrid.
Spanish politician and diplomat who studied law and political science.
From 1979-1987, he served in Spanish embassies in Yugoslavia and Morocco, and from 1991-1993, he served as the director of the Institute for Cooperation with the Arab World at the Spanish Foreign Ministry.
In 2007, he was appointed Chairman of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
In 1996, he was appointed European Union delegate to the Middle East peace process.
Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of José Luis Zapatero.
In 2019, Mr. Moratinos was awarded the “League of Arab States” Award by Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, in honor and appreciation for his role in strengthening Arab-Spanish relations.
Honorary Board of Trustees member of the Yasser Arafat Foundation since 2018.
