The Yasser Arafat Achievement Award Committee held a meeting today, Sunday, 23 August 2026, presided over by Dr. Ahmad Soboh, Chairman of the Committee and Head of the Foundation's Board of Directors. The session was a continuation of the committee's ongoing evaluation and review of submitted nominations for the prestigious award.

The committee is progressively convening a series of sessions to judge the proposals and candidates against the codified criteria and terms outlined in the award’s bylaws, paving the way to select this year's laureate. The winner is scheduled to be announced during the national events commemorating the 22nd anniversary of the martyrdom of founding President Yasser Arafat. The meeting was fully attended by all committee members, alongside the Foundation's Director-General, Dr. Owdeh Mashariqa.
