On October 29, 2024, the Yasser Arafat Foundation launched a film and book titled "Unforgettable Life," dedicated to the extraordinary journey of the late President Yasser Arafat. The event took place at the Yasser Arafat Museum in Al-Muntada Hall, marking the 20th anniversary of his martyrdom. It was attended by members of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Fatah’s Central Committee, and the Revolutionary Council, along with ministers, ambassadors, and foundation officials.
Dr. Ahmad Soboh, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board, explained that this release is part of ongoing activities to honor Abu Ammar's legacy. He emphasized the foundation's commitment to preserving Arafat's memory, noting that the book and film aim to provide a comprehensive narrative of his life, tracing his path from birth through his struggles and ultimately to his martyrdom.
Dr. Soboh pointed out that to truly understand Arafat's life, one must delve into the Palestinian cause, to which he dedicated his life.
The book, "Unforgettable Life," spans 119 pages and is divided into 45 sections, capturing the pivotal moments of Abu Ammar's life. The foundation stressed that Arafat’s story cannot be separated from the broader narrative of the Palestinian cause, making the book not just a biography, but a historical account of the Palestinian cause from the early twentieth century onward. The accompanying film, also titled "Unforgettable Life," is a visual companion to the book, running for 43 minutes and directed by Bashar Abu Ayskar.
Since Yasser Arafat cannot be squeezed into the pages of a book, the confines of a library, or even captured in a film, he stands as a free hero in a multifaceted story of liberation, deeply rooted and constantly unfolding with new insights every day. Recognizing that not everything can be fully captured, this book and film aim to highlight significant moments from a profoundly rich life, a life that remains truly unforgettable.
