In 2018, the Foundation organized Yasser Arafat Summer Camps in 10 locations around the West Bank.
Yasser Arafat Foundation also contributed to the organization of two Yasser Arafat Summer Camps in Gaza: at the Right to Live Society for Children with Down Syndrome, and Al-Bayt Al-Samed Foundation.
Nine hundred seventy-five (975) children between the ages of 8 and 13 participated in the summer camps under the supervision of more than 100 volunteers. Held over a three-week period, the summer camps program include educational, cultural, and recreational activities with, among many others, storytelling, drama, handicrafts, music, folkloric dancing, cognitive games, and sports. The program contributes to educating the youth on the significance of the Palestinian national culture and the legacy of Yasser Arafat.
The Foundation also organized a summer camp in Jerusalem, in light of its important status and the constant challenges and violations faced by the city.
The 2018 summer camps organized by Yasser Arafat Foundation, in partnership with nine organizations in the West Bank, included:
• Balata Camp-Nablus, with the Yafa Cultural Center
• Tulkarm, with the Child Cultural Development Center
• Hebron, with the Palestinian Child Arts Center (PCAC)
• Kufr Ni’mah-Ramallah, with the Palestinian Child Club
• Aida Camp-Bethlehem, with the Lajee Center
• Jerusalem, with the Jerusalem Girls Association
• Am’ari Camp-Ramallah, with The Popular Committee
• Jenin, with Not to Forget Association
• Bil’in, with Friends of Freedom and Justice
