Due to the ongoing genocide being perpetrated by the Israeli occupation against our people on various fronts, particularly in the Gaza Strip, and the fragmentation of the homeland between the governorates in the West Bank due to closures and military checkpoints, the Yasser Arafat Foundation did not organize its summer camps for this year, 2024.
In response, the Foundation's management decided to organize a cultural day for the children who would have attended the summer camps, held at the Yasser Arafat Museum in collaboration with several partner organizations.
The Yasser Arafat Museum welcomed approximately 130 children, aged between 9 and 14, from various villages and camps in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate, which are geographically closest to the museum, over two days in mid-July.
The museum staff took the children on a tour, where they were introduced to the history of Palestine and the life and legacy of the late founding President Yasser Arafat. At the end of the tour, a film about Yasser Arafat was shown to the children in Al-Muntada Hall.
This cultural day aims to nurture national culture among the participating children, familiarize them with President Yasser Arafat's biography, and reinforce Palestinian national identity.
It is also worth noting that the camps were to revive the history and heritage of the late President Yasser Arafat, promote national culture, enhance a spirit of positivity and cooperation within the local community, and instill national values among the participating children. Activities included visiting the Yasser Arafat Museum, engaging with educational games, and using technological screens for film presentations, among other activities.
This year, the Yasser Arafat Foundation carried out the program in cooperation with the Al-Hadaf Cultural Association in Bil’in, the Ramallah Youth Club, the Social Youth Center in Deir Ammar Camp, the Palestinian Child Club in Jalazone Camp, and the Palestinian Child Club Association in Kafr Ni’ma.
The Yasser Arafat Foundation directs its efforts toward national work aimed at stopping the aggression of the Israeli occupation, providing relief to our people in the Gaza Strip, and advocating for our people’s right to end the occupation and achieve independence by establishing a Palestinian state on its national soil with Jerusalem as its capital.
