Yasser Arafat Foundation concluded the ninth season of the National Knowledge Competition for the 2025/2026 academic year on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Al-Muntada hall of the Yasser Arafat Museum, with Silwad Girls Secondary School winning first place.
The competition, organized in partnership with the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education, aims to strengthen Palestinian national identity among students and deepen their understanding of Palestinian history and the legacy of the national movement.
Al-Rama Mixed Secondary School secured second place, while Al-Haj Radwan and Al-Hajjah Suad Abu Sneineh Private School finished third. The final round was attended by education officials, representatives of the foundation, participating students and their families, and school delegations.
In remarks during the ceremony, Foundation Chairman Dr. Ahmad Soboh emphasized the importance of continuing the competition for a ninth consecutive year, describing it as one of the institution’s leading educational and cultural initiatives. He said the program plays a key role in preserving Palestinian collective memory and promoting national awareness among younger generations.
Soboh also noted that this marked the second consecutive year without participation from students in Gaza due to the ongoing war and the widespread destruction of educational infrastructure, including schools, universities, and educational institutions.
Representing Palestinian Minister of Education and Higher Education Amjad Barham, Assistant Undersecretary Sadiq Al-Khoudour said the competition helps instill national values and preserve the legacy of late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. He stressed that knowledge and historical awareness are essential to safeguarding Palestinian identity and collective memory.
The event concluded with an awards ceremony honoring the winning teams and participants. First-place winners received laptop computers and cash prizes, while second- and third-place teams were awarded tablets, iPads, and financial prizes in recognition of their achievements.
