2025-11-12

On November 11, 2025, the Yasser Arafat Foundation’s office in Egypt, together with Fatah’s Egypt branch and the Embassy of Palestine in Cairo, commemorated the 21st anniversary of the Martyrdom of the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. The events were held over two days—first at the Fatah headquarters and then at the Palestinian Embassy—with a large turnout of movement leaders, community members, institutions, and former prisoners exiled to Egypt.

Maj. Gen. Arabi Kloub, director of the Foundation’s office in Egypt, spoke about Arafat’s legacy, saying that his voice remains alive in the hearts of Palestinians and the Arab world. He described Arafat as “the man of the keffiyeh, the fighter, and the guardian of the cause,” and highlighted his role in shaping the Palestinian national identity and uniting the people.

Kloub also thanked Egypt—its leadership and people—for its unwavering stance against the displacement of Palestinians, reflecting the deep bond and shared destiny between the two nations.

Dr. Mohammed Gharib, Secretary of Fatah in Egypt, emphasized that commemorating Arafat is a renewal of commitment to his struggle. He praised Arafat as an exceptional symbol who carried the Palestinian
revolution into a new era of national identity and hope for freedom. He also saluted President Mahmoud Abbas for continuing the path toward statehood and securing Palestinian rights.

Dr. Gharib expressed gratitude to Egypt for its consistent support of the Palestinian cause and its historic role in defending Palestinian rights.

Ambassador Diab Al-Louh thanked Fatah and the Yasser Arafat Foundation for organizing the event, affirming pride in belonging to the movement that shaped the modern Palestinian national struggle. He stressed the importance of defending the rights of Palestinian refugees and called for strengthening national unity under President Mahmoud Abbas to confront current challenges.

Al-Louh also expressed deep appreciation to Egypt for its steadfast support and for the strong historic ties between the two peoples.

The commemoration concluded with a documentary film highlighting the life and struggle of the late President Yasser Arafat.
