About the Late Ezzat Fawzi As'ad Abu Rub (Khatab):

The late Ezzat Fawzi As'ad Abu Rub was born in the town of Qabatia, in the Jenin Governorate, on August 22, 1938. He completed his secondary education at Jenin Secondary School in 1956, and then joined the Te aching profession in Jordan, where he worked in Jenin. He later worked as a teacher in Saudi Arabia in 1964 and as a broadcaster at the Saudi radio station in Riyadh.

He returned to Palestine in 1967, shortly before the June defeat, and joined the Fatah movement through the late President Yasser Arafat when he entered the West Bank to establish internal bases with a group of Fatah cadres. Ezzat Abu Rab welcomed them into his home in Qabatia.

In 1976, he was assigned the task of political guidance and became the deputy to the general political commissioner of the Al-Asifa forces, a position he held until the Palestinian revolution forces withdrew from Beirut in 1982 after the Israeli invasion of Lebanon.

Khatab was known as a man of strong principles, a brilliant orator, and an eloquent speaker. He founded several publications dedicated to the armed struggle and had radio programs on Palestine Radio in Beirut and Cairo.

He was appointed as the head of the Palestinian Liberation Organization's office in the Jordanian capital, Amman, and later became the Palestinian Ambassador to Romania, where he stayed for several years. He was then appointed as the Ambassador to Libya, playing an important role in strengthening Palestinian relations with those countries.

Khatab was a member of the Revolutionary Council of the Fatah Movement and a member of the Palestinian National Council.

He passed away in Romania on May 25, 1993, while attending his eldest son Hussam's doctoral graduation ceremony.
