The Yasser Arafat Foundation, represented by its Board of Trustees and Administration, along with all its staff, mourns the passing of the late leader and founder, Farouk Kaddoumi (Abu al-Lutf), who passed away, Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the age of 92 in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
We extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to his esteemed family and the Palestinian people. We ask the Almighty to grant him abundant mercy, place him in His vast paradise, and give his loved ones patience, solace, and comfort. "Indeed, we belong to Allah, and to Him, we shall return".
Born in Jinsafut in 1932, Farouk Kaddoumi was part of the initial core that founded the Fatah Movement. He served as a member of Fatah’s Central Committee, Secretary of the Central Committee, and Head of the Political Department of the Palestine Liberation Organization. He was the first Foreign Minister of the State of Palestine following the declaration of independence.
May his soul rest in eternal peace in the company of martyrs, alongside Abu Ammar, Abu Jihad, Abu Iyad, and many others.
Notably, the late Farouk Kaddoumi received the Yasser Arafat Award for Achievement in 2020, for his dedication and contributions to the Palestinian cause.
