The Yasser Arafat Foundation held its 15th Board of Trustees meeting on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Yasser Arafat Museum in Ramallah. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Mamdouh Al-Abadi and attended by most members in person in Ramallah, while members abroad joined via video call. Dr. Mohammad Mustafa conveyed greetings from the President, expressing support for the meeting's success and appreciation for the foundation's work.
The meeting addressed the severe aggression and genocide inflicted upon the Palestinian people by Israeli forces, with backing from the U.S. administration. The board highlighted the importance of global solidarity with Gaza and the imprisoned movement, calling for an end to the aggression, the prevention of displacement, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and a halt to incursions and destruction in the West Bank. They urged the Arab world and governments to provide serious and decisive support to the Palestinian people and to engage with the international community, especially the U.S., based on their practical stances on Palestine and its rights.
The board emphasized the need for Palestinian national unity within the framework of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people. They praised global protests and student movements across continents supporting Palestinian rights, the end of the occupation, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The Yasser Arafat Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Palestinian resilience and promoting national identity. The meeting concluded with respect and solidarity for the steadfast people of Gaza, the prisoners, and all Palestinians in the homeland and diaspora, asserting that victory is certain despite the sacrifices.
