• On 13 February 1928, Khaled al Hasan (Abu as Sa’id) was born in the Haifa city to a national, religious family that used to host meetings of Sheikh ‘Izz ad Din al Qassam and his companions.
• Abu as Sa’id obtained the matriculation certificate from a Haifa-based school. In 1947, his family sent him to study economics in London. However, Abu as Sa’id’s family were displaced in the 1948 Nakba to Lebanon, and then to Syria. Later, members of the family dispersed around in the Diaspora.
• Shortly after he had arrived to Syria in 1959, Abu as Sa’id established the Palestine Liberation Group. Together with his brother, Abu as Sa’id established the Islamic Tahrir Party [Hizb ut-Tahrir]. However, Adib ash Shishakli, the then Syrian President, banned the Party, forcing Abu as Sa’id to leave Syria for Kuwait.
• In Kuwait, Abu as Sa’id met with Yasser Arafat, Khalil al Wazir and others who later became leaders of Fatah. In 1960, Abu as Sa’id as well as his group members were elected members on Fatah.
• As representatives of Palestinians in Kuwait, Abu as Sa’id and Yasser Arafat took part in the 1964 1st Constituent National Council in Jerusalem.
• Abu as Sa’id was among the first to join the nucleus of the Fatah movement.
• Over 1968-74, Abu as Sa’id was appointed Chairman of the PLO Political Department.
• During 1971-74, Abu as Sa’id was elected the Fatah Commissioner of Mobilisation and Organisation. In 1964, he chaired the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Palestinian National Council. In 1967, he was officially a member on the Fatah Central Committee.
• In early 1980s, he was in charge of the Fatah media activity.
• Abu as Sa’id published more than 20 books, including the Palestinian State is a Precondition of Just Peace, The Jordanian-Palestinian Agreement, The Israeli-US Relation, Diaries of a National Donkey, A Handful of Thorny Peace, Leadership and Tyranny, etc.
• Abu as Sa’id died in Morocco on 9 October 1994.
