Yasser Arafat Foundation Holds 12th Board of Trustees Meeting in Cairo (27/2/2019)

The twelfth annual meeting of the Board of Trustees of Yasser Arafat Foundation was held in Cairo at the headquarters of the Arab League on the 27th of February 2019.  Distinguished Palestinian and other Arab members of the Board participated in the meeting.
 
The Chair of the Board of Trustees, former Secretary-General of the Arab League Amr Moussa opened the meeting with a welcoming speech. 

Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmad Aboul Gheit spoke at the opening session.  He affirmed his support for Yasser Arafat Foundation, its significant contributions and role in serving the Palestinian cause and society across all sectors. 

Aboul Gheit also welcomed the honorary members of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees:  former Italian Prime Minister Massimo D’Alema, and grandson of the leader Nelson Mandela, Mandla Mandela. 

Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Egypt Diab Allouh conveyed the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas.  He also spoke of Yasser Arafat Foundation as a great national institution, named for and committed to the democratic and national values of its founder, the late President Abu Ammar.

Following the opening session, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors Dr. Nasser Alkidwa presented the 2018 annual report on the Foundation’s work at its headquarters, two branches, and museum and financial report of the Foundation.  A short film about the Yasser Arafat Achievement Awards over the past 12 years was also shown.

The annual meetings of the Board of Trustees of Yasser Arafat Foundation are held at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo.  Chaired by H.E. Amr Moussa, the Board is comprised of more than 100 prominent Palestinians and other Arabs, of whom 15 also serve on the Foundation’s Board of Directors, headed by Dr. Nasser Alkidwa.
