Yasser Arafat Foundation extends its deepest condolences to the family and compatriots of a valued friend and member of its board of trustees, former President of the Republic of the Sudan Field Marshall Abdul Rahman Suwar Al-Dahab.  

Al-Dahab was born in 1934 in the city of Al-Ubayyid. He graduated from the Sudanese Military Academy and rose to prominence when former President Gaafar Nimeiry appointed him Chief of Staff, and then Minister of Defence and General Commander of the Armed Forces in 1984.  Al-Dahab was president of the Republic of Sudan from 6 April 1985 to 6 May 1986.
