Born: 1947 in Jerusalem.
Education:
Attended the Evangelical Lutheran School in Jerusalem and Beit Jala, graduating in 1965.
Earned a diploma in Arts from Birzeit University in 1967.
Bachelor’s degree in Political Studies from the American University of Beirut, 1969.
Master’s degree in Political Studies and International Relations from the American University of Beirut, 1971.
Ph.D. from the University of Bonn, West Germany, 1975.
Career:
Began his career as a teaching assistant in the Department of Political Studies and Public Administration at the American University of Beirut.
Joined the Palestine Studies Institute in Beirut in 1972.
Managed the Palestinian Media Center in Bonn, Germany (which later became the Palestinian Mission) from 1973 to 1976.
Served as Acting Head of the PLO Diplomatic Mission in Beijing, China, from 1977 to 1979.
Director of the Office of the PLO Chairman in Beirut and Tunis until 1985.
Director of the Office of the President of the State of Palestine in Tunis until 1993.
General Director of the Office of the President of the State of Palestine in Tunis from 1993 to 1995.
General Director of the Office of the President of the Palestinian Authority in Jericho from 1995 to 2003.
Deputy Head of the Presidential Office of the Palestinian Authority from 2003 to 2005.
Governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley from 2005 to 2008, and later served as Governor of Salfit.
Political Activity:
Active in the Palestinian student movement and joined Fatah in Lebanon in 1968, fully dedicating himself to the movement from 1973.
Held several leadership positions within Fatah and has been a member of the Revolutionary Council of Fatah since 1989.
Member of the Palestinian National Council since 1991.
He passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024, in the city of
Ramallah.
