Born in Jerusalem in 1955.
Received his elementary education in Jericho and the Higher Education Degree in 1972.
In 1977, he got a Bachelor Degree in Political Science from the University of St. Francisco and a Master Degree from the same university in 1978.
In 1982 he earned his PHD in Peace Studies from Bradford university.
Taught Political Science at Al Najah University in Nablus between the years 1978 and 1991 but remained affiliated with its faculties.
Worked with the editorial Board of Al-Quds Newspaper Between 1979-1991.
Assumed several positions such as: The Secretary General of the Arab Studies Society, headed the Palestinian negotiating team for elections, the Head of the Palestinian Central Elections committee and the Minister of Local Councils from 1994-2003.
Elected as a Legislative Council member for the period 1996-2006
Issued Several publications of his writings and received several awards and medals.
Headed the PLO Negotiations Affairs Unit
Appointed as the Secretary General of the PLO.
Elected as a member of FATH Central Committee.
Passed away at the age of 65 in the early morning of Tuesday 10 November 2020.
