-  He was born in 1943 in Beit Sourik, Jerusalem.

- Aged 76, he passed away on the 2nd of December in Ramallah.

-  He earned his Bachelor Degree in Law studies in Cairo.

-  He joined Fatah Movement in 1967 and was elected as the first representative of Fatah Movement in the Palestinian Student Union in Syria. 
-  He earned his Master Degree in political science in the American University of Beirut in 1982. 
-  He worked as the director of The Storm radio station in Syria until 1973 then became the chairman of the Palestinian Liberation Council from 1973 until 1994. 
-  He was the official spokesman for the Palestinian Liberation Organization from 1982 until 1994. 
-  Member of the Palestinian National Council and the Central Council.
-  He was the Secretary General of the General Palestinian Union of Writers and Journalists until 2004. 
- Yasser Arafat appointed him as a minister and secretary general of the Council of Ministers as well as the spokesman for the Palestinian National Authority from 1996 until 2003. He also worked as a political advisor for Yasser Arafat during the siege in Al-muqata’a. 
-  He accompanied Yasser Arafat through his revolutionary journey since 1967 until 2004 in Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon and in Tripoli Battle. 
-  During the Intifada 2000-2004, he stayed with Yasser Arafat even when he was under siege and during his illness.
