- He was born in 1948 in Cairo, Egypt. 
- He graduated from Cairo University with a bachelor's degree in 1972 and from the Serbian University of Belgrade with master's and Ph.D. degrees in international relations and national security in 1987.
- Elected to the Egyptian Parliament for the 2015/2020 term as Chairman of the Middle East Forum for Strategic Studies.
- He worked as an assistant to martyr Khalil Al-Wazir "Abu Jihad", from 1976 to 1988.
- President Mahmoud Abbas bestowed the Palestine Medal of Achievement and Merit on him in 2014.
- Political officer for the Beirut Liberation Movements Office in 1977.
- Chief Editor of the Palestinian Military Magazine - The Battle 1980, Occupied Lands Authority - Western.
- Director of the Holy Center for Strategic Studies in Gaza from 1998 until 2005.
- He has five books published and several articles published in specialist Arab publications. 
- He supervises many master's and doctorate dissertations in Egyptian universities on a part-time basis.
