Salim Zaanoun (1933-1922)

Born in Gaza on 28th of December 1933
Received elementary education in the Gaza Strip.
Had a Bachelor of law from the law school at Cairo University (1955) and the post graduate diploma from the same university in 1957 in addition to being awarded the diploma of higher Education in Political economy in 1958.
While having his education in Cairo, he became the Secretary General for the Palestinian Students Association for the  years 1954-1955.
1956-1957: took a leading role by participating in the popular resistance in Gaza during the Tripartite Aggression against Egypt.
Appointed as an attorney General in the Gaza Strip  between  end of 1955 until September 1960 after which he moved to Kuwait  to work in the same profile and to teach the penal investigation law at the Police Academy until 1975.
Became a  member in the committee  which was chaired by Sheikh Saad Al Abdallah Al Sabah to draft the Kuwaiti Penal law .
Chaired the Palestinian Constitutional Committee (2011) and the Committee for preparing the Elections Protocol for the Palestinian National Council as per the Cairo Agreement of 2011.
Considered to be an experienced politician and one of the historical FATH leaders. He was elected as a Secretary General in the Presidency of the PNC during its 4th session which was held in Cairo  in July1968. 
Elected as the deputy head of the PNC in 1969 and as an acting chair person for the period between 1993-1996 after which he was elected by consensus as the Head of the  PNC  during its 21st session which was held in Gaza in 1996. 
Became a member in the Central Committee of FATH Movement and its accredited representative in Kuwait and the Gulf Countries.
Re-elected in 2009 as a member in the Central Committee of FATH Movement.
Published several poetry books : Oh ..  you the people of Jerusalem, Thus said the Stone, Stars in the Sky, The End of the Harvest, Penal Investigation in addition to several legal and political publications. 
Published an autobiographic book titled: The Story of  My Journey (Salim Al Zaanoun- Abu Al Adeeb)  
Passed away in Jordan on 14 December 2014.
